Step 4: Coach

Research shows that the #1 factor in improving employee performance is leadership. Yet, leaders who attend leadership development programs often get little or no support or coaching from their boss when they return to the workplace – as though the mission was accomplished. Now, let’s get back to work. Wrong!  There is no separation between good leadership and work and the real work has just begun.

We train, coach and involve direct managers as workplace performance coaches throughout the ongoing assessment, learning and reinforcement process. The senior management version of Vital Learning’s all new Developing and Coaching Others blended e-learning course was designed specifically for this purpose and we enhance this with a highly interactive workshop. Coaches are encouraged to help leaders recognize and celebrate small wins along the way.

We seek to help organizations create an environment where leadership and its impact on teamwork, productivity, cost savings, quality, service becomes an ongoing topic in meetings and interactions between managers and their employees. Team New England facilitators serve as follow-through coaches as well through solutions ranging from follow-up 1-on-1 phone conversations to web conferences that reactivate the synergy and inspiration participants felt during the institutes.
